Dearest Rylen,

Three months ago you came into our world and haven’t looked backed since. I type this while you’re asleep because you’ve refused a proper nap this whole week, power naps just don’t cut it. It’s been a hard two weeks for us, last week you were ill and then this week a growth spurt, lovely. Still you’re a doll, didn’t matter how sick you were; fighting your fever, whining while taking your medicine, having a fever patch on your head, Daddy continuously taking your temperature (yes, he even brought it out while we went for a little stroll!!) you ALWAYS had a smile.

Every week you learn something new, it’s a joy to tag along as you discover all your senses and the world around you and slobber over everything. Yes, I need to get more bibs, stop wearing black and start getting pictures of you favourite HANDburger, tasty I’m sure. Axl is also learning pretty early to stay away from you after you grabbed his tail and refused to let go, that really made my afternoon. Aren’t you the luckiest girl, you have two of the most entertaining dogs, TWO… you can’t imagine how Mummy grew up wanting a dog more than anything in the world.

Oh yes, about your footprint, the box said Idiot Proof, they lied. They didn’t include the mould, so we had to send it back and got a new set, the aim is to get it done before you turn a year old . You’re growing so fast and nearly bursting out of your 0- 3 month old onesies. Part of me can’t wait for you to grow up so we have a little more fun and another part of me wishes time could stand still because mostly you’re just perfect just the way you are right now, right at this minute, every minute. Oh but we’re starting to go bald, yes, you and me babe, I see loads of hair on my brush and hair on your pillow, you’re starting to look like the most adorable version of Kim Jong Il. We really must get your passport photo done before you lose more hair . Yes, Mummy’s a lil evil.

So my darling RyBear, 3 months, officially no longer an infant, now a “baby”. Mummy loves you. You’re starting to fuss, I’ll end here.

So I’m an animal lover and I give monthly to ASD but once a year around Christmas I choose a non-animal organisation to donate to. I’ll be giving to Sanctuary House because what they’re doing, is something I believe in.

Argh… She was up at 11.45pm, 2.45am, 4.30am and 7.15am and still wants to take only 30 min naps. Driving me crazy! I’m tired, thristy, hungry and can’t sleep *POUT*

Since Rylen was pretty sick last week, we didn’t go out much, such a waste of the long weekend but we didn’t want to risk her getting any sicker than she already was. By Saturday, her fever was gone and I was going a lil stir-crazy, so when R had to get something done in town and asked if I wanted lunch from Orchard Road my reply was ” You’re going to town? For what? I don’t need you to buy anything, we’re going WITH YOU.” So finally on Sunday we headed out and I LOVED my Sunday! Got my brows done, bought books for Ry (her first bible!! ahaha, my Mom will be taking care of that one), a book for myself and the first Christmas present for my Dad from Borders. Had ribs, had decaffeinated coffee (if they have it, I’ll take decaf, if not, one cup doesn’t hurt, promise). Went a lil nuts at Toys R Us. BLISS, I tell you!

However during the week, Rylen found her cry. She usually does the whole neh neh neh thing but now.. she wails, the kinda wail that forces a parent to cringe under the public glare, run outside to escape the stares … yes that kinda cry. I’m trying to make her snap out of it, it’s a work in progress. She’s got all kinds of new sounds now, goes nuts during bath time with her Daddy around and the proudest thing … she’s learning to sit on her own she loves trying and even pushes my hands away once she’s up.

Personally, I’m dreading going back to work in a month, still worried about the whole refusing the bottle situation (which took a back seat last week). Anyways, I’m going to start running (I snigger when I type or say run) twice a week, been at it once a week for the past month, my joints still hurt after and it still feels worse running now then it felt running when I was 6 months pregnant, depressing really but it’s slowly hurting less. I wish I could go swimming but gag when I see myself. I know it’s gonna take time especially since I don’t do well with diets and Christmas is just around the corner, tarts, cakes, turkey… yummers!

Rylen is ill. She’d been a total poo poo monster and slept loads yesterday, so we rang her doctor, he said it didn’t sound serious…hmmm. In the morning she was still having tummy woes and a 38.6 fever, to the doctor we go. She’s got a stomach virus which means she has cough, cold, fever and something to get over her poopie issues medicine. She’s usually an easy going baby (as long as she’s not hungry) and seeing her all whiny and in general a little off, is so heartbreaking.

Rylen’s gone on strike, she’s refusing the bottle. Groan.

We’ve tried all sorts, different people feeding, R using one of my tees on his shoulder, different teats, bottles, late afternoon, evening, lunch time. I even read that you should try a little apple juice and we did but nada. She screams, cries till her face is red, uses her fist to block, push, shove the bottle away. She even had a temper tantrum complete with stomping of her feet on the cushion. It’s stressing me out because I have to go back to work and I’ve read of babies just not drinking till their Mom comes home! R said he’s got a colleague who’s wife is a stay at home Mom and the kid is 15 months and only accepts boobies. Sigh, talk about a connection.

I haven’t got much to write about right now, even if I did, I can’t be bothered to do a grammar check and get nagged at by the husband .

Ry with my Care Bear I got when I was 10!!

Dearest Rylen,

Yesterday you turned 2 months. You’re starting to feel like a baby, it was amazing how things change and it makes my heart swell. What do I mean you’re starting to feel like a baby? Two mornings ago, I picked you up and carried you to the living room and I noticed (besides the fact that you are way heavier) you were gripping me back, your arm was holding on to my shoulder, it was a wonderful feeling. You’re talking a lot more, it’s comical how you seem to be answering us back. Your smiles, aww your smiles make my day.

A little about your development, I know you’re not fond of tummy time, it frustrates you because you want to crawl but you still haven’t mastered putting much weight on your arms yet, baby steps RyBear. I just worry that you’ll be able to turn and I’ll miss your first one, that being said, it’s gonna be additional fun when you can, won’t it?

Yesterday, we went over to Grandma’s place and took your weight 5.4kg, we couldn’t quite believe it and Grandma and I took turns on the machine . Then we took a long walk through the park and passed our future home, you pretty much slept. Then you spent some time with Grandpa and had a long conversation, surprisingly you did most of the talking, which hardly ever happens, kudos to you baby!

Today, I really wanted to take you shopping but it poured so we’re staying home and hopefully we’ll get your footprint thingy done.

Just a little post on Cervical Cancer, I hope everyone who reads this blog gets their pap smear done… I dunno, every two years was it? I admit, I was a total slacker about check-ups before I got pregnant, I think I went for a pap smear twice since I hit 21. Anyway, the gyne and the hubba kinda twisted my arm and made me get the vaccine, good but rather expensive decision, 1 jab down, 2 more to go. I guess from someone who’s seen family members have/ survive/ die from cancer… if there’s something you can get to prevent something as evil as cancer (without giving up bacon), what’s a few hundred dollars right?
